Porsche Macan S Vs. Porsche Cayenne V6

A car that has left many awaiting its arrival, made by one of the best car producers in the world. The all-new Porsche Macan S 2014. Yet many car fanatics are wondering, how is the Macan any different than the Cayenne?

They both have a V6 petrol engine, and they both come in a variety of models and engines(atleast the Cayenne does). The Cayenne comes with a basic V6 engine (the most compatible model with the Macan), the Cayenne S with a V8 Engine, the cayenne S Diesel with a V6 engine, the Cayenne GTS with a V8 Engine, the Cayenne Turbo and Turbo S with a V8 Engine. As for the Macan there hasn’t been any confirmed news on how many models there will be but, based on speculations and leaked documents there will be a Macan S V6, Macan S Diesel and a Macan Turbo.

The Macan S will have 340-hp, 3.0L engine and a top speed of 254km/h. The Cayenne has 300-hp, 3.6L engine and a top speed of 230km/h. The Macan takes the upper hand here, with more horsepower and a higher top speed. Most importantly although there aren’t details about the Macan’s weight but it will definitely weigh less than the Cayenne’s 2765Kg weight since the Macan is basically a crossover of the Panamera and the Cayenne.

Based on engine specifications and performance the Macan is a better choice, since its obviously smaller, lighter and faster, only if your choices are either the Macan S or Cayenne V6. However if you’re choosing between any of the Macan models and any of the Cayenne models whether its S, GTS or Turbo and Turbo S, then the Cayenne is the best choice. Personally, I highly recommend the Cayenne (as long as its not any of the V6 models), its reliable, luxurious and fast and even though the Macan is new and has a better performance V6 engine than the Cayenne V6, the other Cayenne models shouldn’t even be compared to the Macan, because they’re at a whole other level. Finally even though the Cayenne isn't the best looking car out there, its definitely better looking than the Macan.
